Youth Worker

  • Start date: July 2019
  • Duration: 4 months (16 weeks) – 12 hours per week
  • Salary: £15 per hour
  • Location: Based in Friary Community Centre, Westcott Community Centre, Acton Vale Community Centre
  • Reporting Line: Lead Youth Worker/Project Manager

Key responsibilities

  • Support Lead Youth Worker in delivering sessions, research and outreach activities
  • Provide overall support to Lead Youth Worker
  • Work with young people and lead discussions and/or sessions when needed
  • Provide guidance to Intern or volunteer during sessions and outreach
  • Keep record of attendance, when required
  • Attend team meetings and external meetings when required

 This role may require you to work afternoons, evenings and the occasional weekend. 

Person Specification

  • Must have a Level 2 or above qualification or diploma in Youth Work or any relevant area of study
  • Experience of direct work with young people (experience of one-to-one, centre-based, groupwork and/or outreach work preferable)
  • Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour or hard to reach (preferable)
  • Demonstrate the ability to deliver sessions and engage with young people
  • Demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm!

Any employment offer is subject to passing an Enhanced DBS. Candidates who do not have a Youth Work or other relevant qualifications, may still be considered provided that they have significant experience of working with young people.

Project Intern/Assistant

  • Start date: July 2019
  • Duration: 5 months (20 weeks) – 3 days per week
  • Salary: £200 per week
  • Location: Acton (location TBD)
  • Reporting Line: Project Manager

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating between workers/centres and scheduling
  • Manage all project logistics including equipment deliveries, stationery and any other requirements
  • Provide overall administrative support to JED team (including responding to emails and queries across various platforms)
  • Some diary management may be required
  • Update programme, schedule and procedures as needed
  • Update social media accounts
  • Attend team meetings and external meetings when required
  • Support JED team with collating Impact Report and collecting research/statistics

 This role may require you to work afternoons, evenings and the occasional weekend. 

Person Specification

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programmes
  • Knowledge or prior experience of running social media accounts
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
  • Demonstrate initiative and enthusiasm!
  • Currently studying or with an interest in any social science, social work, youth or community work degree desirable (preferable)
